The Ugly Truth opening title sequence

The Ugly Truth is Romantic Comedy it starts with a well known song that is a very new and modern which shows how recent it is. The film starts by focusing in on a helicopter hovering in the sky it has bright bold writing on the side which suggest it is working for a media broadcasting centre, the shot then changes and they are all aerial shots as if you are in the helicopter. These birds eye view shots continue with the opening title appearing on the screen which almost seems to be in perfect sync to the music, the font is a bold impact and on two actors names there are little gender symbols that maybe hint that these two characters are linked in some way.

The Gender Symbols remain on screen and fade into each other when the female actresses name appears on screen the symbol shows feminine features and there is a red love heart that sits inside the head, the gender symbol then swirls round and turns into the male symbol the red love heart then moves down into the male symbols body this connotes a stereotypical Boy/Girl relationship where the girl wants a relationship and the Boy may be after something different.

The Love heart then remains on screen and fits into the title of the film the love heart ironically places its self in the 'g' in 'ugly' which makes you think more about the title.

Then appears a lady who looks as though she is a main character as the camera follows her every move as she very quickly and powerfully marches out of her house whilst on her phone by the tone of her voice you sense she is very in-control of her life and very dominant still whilst she is walking text is still flying in and out to the beat of the music, the camera follows her to work there are quick shots to show the speed at which she moves at when she arrives at her work she appears to have a lot going on but remaining in-control, we have now established she is out main character and already know a lot about her and maybe her position in the film as she doesn't appear to fall into the normal vulnerable girl who is waiting for prince charming which is like alot of Rom-Com's, we don't know whether she is in a relationship or not but she gives an impression if she is or isn't that she is perfectly happy with it that way.
